These
are some of my favorite sites...enjoy!
Altan
This
is one of my pipers, Robyn Whitty's favorite groups. She mentioned them
to me in a rehearsal. I happened to remember their name and searched the
net for them when I got home. WOW! They are amazing! So hint hint to my
husband and friends...I'd love to get all of their CD's if you ever need
a gift idea...ha ha.

Alasdair
Fraser
is a master Scottish fiddler and I happen to be in love with him. My
husband is ok with it since he lives in California! He is such a dynamic
fiddler and has incredible stage presence. His many recordings I
never get tired of and I love the way he develops and revisits tunes in
his arrangements on his recordings. He has a fiddle camp in California,
Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School. I love his pieces that he
has composed and hope to have them in my collection when they ever go
into print. Basically....I confess....Alasdair Fraser makes me drool!
I'm completely in love with him!

Atlantic
Sea Breeze
This web site is for East Coast musicians. John Gavin runs the site and
gets up to 2000 hits a day on his site. He plays music and features
different artists each week. He reviews their CDs and seems to enjoy
running this site! You are a great fan John!

Barachois
I saw Barachois for the first time at the ECMAs one year. I laughed for
the entire 20 minutes! They are brilliant musicians! The energy they put
out in a show puts the Duracel bunny to shame and you will laugh and
laugh. Music can be so much fun and Barachois proves that. They have
consistently had a rigorous performing schedule all over and they are
always working so hard! They do a wonderful version of "the old
woman" that I will always remember them by.

CALA
- Canadian Aquafitness Leadership Association
I
released my new CD, CELTIC ENERGY at a CALA aquafitness conference in
Toronto. It was so much fun and the show from the side of the pool was
so full of energy is was INCREDIBLE! This CD is CALA approved. CALA
stands for everything that is the best in fitness, education and safety.
I am proud to release my CD with CALA and proud to be a part of their
team.

The
Cottars
What is it about the Cottars that we all love so much! Well they are
GOOD, young, spunky and cute. We watch them and they make us feel so
good about the future of our children. As they grow up and mature into
their fame may it not go to their heads. May they stay innocent and good
and may they keep a show that is beautiful and feel good full of talent
and energy. The Cottars are something else!

Capercaillie
I grew up studying classical music. Capercaillie was one of the first
Celtic groups that I was exposed to and they threw me for a loop. I was
crazy about them the first time I heard them! I would love to see them
someday in person...that would be so cool! I love the way they add such
unique modern splashes to their traditional tunes.

Canadian
Celtic Music
This is a site promoting Canadian Celtic musicians. Kimberley
keeps this site going and boy is she ever on top of things! It is always
up to date when I visit it. She features different artists and has
contests to win their autographed Cds. She has recently featured Lennie
Gallant, Patricia Murray, April Verch, Jennifer Roland, Kindle and Sons
of Maxwell etc... I hope that she will feature us when we release our
new disk!

Ceolas
For information on Celtic music general, I'm still going through the
information on this site!

The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
The Mormon Tabernacle choir inspired me to love music from the time
I was a little girl!

Ennis
Sisters
These three sisters from Newfoundland have the sweetest harmonies
together. One of the sisters writes all of the songs that they sing and
she has a real gift for song writing.

Fiddlesticks
This is a Dad and her three daughters and they are wonderful.
Check them out! I happened upon their CD at a store called Desseret
Books( where I spend any extra cash I can get). They are lovely! My
daughter loves dancing to their music. She is a highland dancer and
likes to freestyle.

For being a
Mom...there are endless very fun and very cool ideas especially for
holidays on here...

Ivonne
Hernandez
She is a hot new, 19 year old fiddler from BC who has a new CD
released called "Playing with Fire". She started playing at 3
years old, just like my daughter Elsa, and fiddle competitions were her
passion. I have nine 3 to 6 year old new beginners this year and I just
love teaching them! I will be so fun teaching them from such a young age
and watching them grow up! Ivonne is a great musician enjoy the sound
clips on her site! She stayed at my house when she did a small tour last
year in Nova Scotia. She did some teaching the day of her concert and
taught a tune to many of my students. They loved her.

Julie
Deazevedo & Maren
Ord
These two ladies have been inspiring my song writing. They are not
"celtic" musicians but they are both inspiring in not only
their songs but how they run their personal lives and their music
reflects that. They are both women that I think of often now a days...

KZION
From St. George, Utah, kzion.com is in the Web hub for LDS music, a
music format that delivers inspiring and uplifting lyrics in the form of
contemporary music. Kzion.com has wonderful music in many varieties. It
plays 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week and as each song is playing all kinds
of information about the song, the musician and often the lyrics come up
as well. They dedicate Sundays to Sabbath appropriate music. My computer
switches constantly between this station and BYU TV!

Kendra
MacGillivray
Kendra has always worked hard promoting her fiddling in the Cape
Breton Style. She has brought traditional music to many her in the
Maritimes and far away! Troy MacGillivray and Sabra her brother and
sister are also very accomplished musicians and dancers and they make a
dynamic team when they all three play together. WE often have shared the
stage in big events and I enjoy it every time.

LDS
Music World
Is a great site to go and find music to purchase that is
guaranteed not to have music content that is violent, sexual, or gross in
any way. All of it's music must fit a criteria that you can count on to
be uplifting! YEAH! All musicians are also all members of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....which is kind of cool too!

Mary
Jane Lamond
Well she is a leader in bringing the world Gaelic. We all fear the
future of our ancestors tongue. My great grandmother was a Gaelic
teacher. She was the last in our line to speak it. I am taking Gaelic
lessons now from Murdina MaCrae. Mary Jane is a treasure as she has
dedicated her adult life thus far to preserving, through song, this rich
language and brings it to so many new and familiar ears. I have
spoken with her about how difficult learning this language is. She was
so kind and encouraging to me. Each time I have left her feeling like I
need to keep plugging away at it. In Mary Jane's busy schedule she still
teaches a week long Gaelic song work shop at the Gaelic College in Cape
Breton. Thank you Mary Jane Lamond for all that you do here in Nova
Scotia for us.

To find the music that you are looking for or for some inspiration from
some good 'ol traditional tunes try...

many Maritime Music groups. Rita Macneil, Natalie MacMaster, Ennis
Sisters, Savoy Theatre, Scott Macmillan, Mary Jane Lamond, Troy
MacGillivary, Beolach and Kendra MacGillivary are some of her many

Poor
Gordon
I have a crush on him and it is just so embarrassing because I
blush when I talk to him and get all nervous and tongue tied....it is so
humiliating! What do I love about him? His playing.....he is so
versatile...he can play any style and he is such a great teacher! Can he
get a group of fiddlers young, old, beginner or advanced to play! I want
to be like him some day when I teach! And he has a very nice voice.
.....................................................................................................................................................................
Richard
Wood
One of my students purchased Richards own book of tunes that he wrote.
His favorite...Kimuru and the Ole Dublin Jig. He wanted his book of
tunes he published and spent an hour on the phone talking to his Mother
to get it.....I love Richards fiddling stage presence. He is a visual
performer as well as an incredible musician. If you don't even care for
fiddling...Richard will entertain you just the same! Kimberly Holmes, my
amazing pianist, played with Richard for a long time and they are very
close.

The
Romantic
I have a violin teaching studio and teach aerobics classes and sub in
the school system and have my band.....but even more important by LEAPS
AND BOUNDS is my role as a wife and a mother of three. I couldn't do a
quarter as well without this site.... For being a wife...after 12 years
married, the only way to keep it strong is by having regular dates with
fun and laughing. This site has a lot of things to "buy" on it
which can sometimes be obnoxious but worth the sifting through for fun
and romantic ideas. It is not an "R" site but most certainly
"PG" ideas. My latest date idea was to go to the page and then
click "kissing games" then click "count your
kisses"...FUN FUN FUN!

Slainte
Mhath
This is a great group for traditional Cape Breton style but with an
added flair. My daughter Elsa takes step dancing lessons from Lisa and
we think that she is wonderful! Boyd and Ryan MacNeil also teach a lot
at the Gaelic college to pass on their wonderful musical talents to the
next generation. Thanks guys!
